As things stand, the Dominican gem has already surpassed 2018\u2019s previous all-time-high number of arrivals, and millions more are expected.<\/p>\n

Punta Cana may already be a well-established vacation hotspot for American sun-seekers hoping to escape the harshness of the Northern Hemisphere winter, but its surging popularity knows no bounds. Every year, millions of them flock to the insular location, filling development areas and the town\u2019s pristine beaches to capacity.<\/p>\n

It has always been one of the top-rated sites for beach getaways in the Caribbean, yet this year, it is not only trendy but set to make History:<\/p>\n

The Dominican Republic Enters Its Golden Era Of Tourism<\/h3>\n

As reported by Ernesto Veloz, President of the \u2018Association of Hotels of the East\u2019, a group of hoteliers based in the easternmost tip of Hispaniola, the upcoming winter, namely the peak travel season, will be \u2018the best in the History\u2019 of the Dominican Republic. Up until 2022, 2018 was the nation\u2019s best-performing year on the tourism front.<\/p>\n

That year, more than\u00a05 million<\/a>\u00a0visitors landed in the Dominican Republic (DR) \u2013 specifically, 5,009,417. The following year 2019, stopped short of breaching the mark a second time, tallying 4,987,698 guests, a number that dropped even further in the post-Covid era. In 2020, a far more modest 1,743,480 arrivals were recorded, rising only timidly to 3,303,745 in 2021.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a fact the strict border curbs applying to visitors throughout most of the health crisis, affecting mainly non-immunized Americans, didn\u2019t do Dominican tourism any favors, judging by official figures posted in the last two years. That has been the case with\u00a0nearly every major international destination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
